I really like the new lay out. The design is easy to maneuver through and the photo feature is great. Nice addition of the care instructions. (Oh and of course there are lots of pictures of my dogs on there…lol)
Keep up the good work with a fabulous product. You know I am hooked.
(paws crossed we win too…lol)

Err, em. I’m a web developer IRL. Here’s my initial review….and don’t take this too personally, I think you did very well, and actually this is far fewer comments than I usually have!!! Really.
I like the color scheme, and the layout. Do check that purple font color to be sure that folks with poor eyesight or color blindness can still read it. Otherwise the layout is great.
1) Don’t list categories that are empty. I know it’s easier but it is annoying to the user.
2) I don’t think your search is working. Searching for “martingale” should at least yield the category, but does not. Searching for “agility” yields nothing. I think your site is small enough at this time that you could leave it out without any problem. You probably don’t need the advanced search at any rate. Advances searches are a pain and almost never work right (I should know!) so avoid them if you possibly can!
3) I would check Section 508 compliance. It’s not necessary, but you are almost compliant as it is, so you may as well go all the way and get the cool compliant gif for your site. You just need to add “alt” tags for all your gifs and you are there. Check cynthiasays.com for more info.
That’s about it, have to get back to work. Feel free to email me if I have succeeded in confusing you!

This is EXACTLY the kind of stuff I’m looking for.. Thank you!
I actually have a few other empty catagories that are not active.. I wanted to get peoples opinions on the breakdown of the menu…
Once I add the descriptions of the catagories, (agility slip leads and martingales) the search should work. I don’t think it searches the catagory names.. but I’ll check..
Good Idea on the purple.. there is a site somewhere that crawls the site for that … where is that bookmark? and I didn’t know I was that close to 508 Compliance! w00t! I’ll work on that..
Thank you thank you thank you..
Thanks Lora! and thanks for catching my typo!
It’s funny, my captcha word was bulldog! and I’m the pit bull owner!
Love all the fun collars and charms, would love to win one!

Also, I’m still looking at all the things on your site, but we’ve talked before about my preferance for tounge buckles. Just my feeling that they are more secure. =) Love the pics of your pup!

Jeni, that is funny! Know what else is funny? My friends spell my name “Jeni” too!
oh, also, Jeni, I’ve still not figured out how to put grommets in webbing.. but how do you feel about metal side release buckles instead of the plastic?
I think it looks great! Love the orange and blue and you’d be surprised how many sites don’t include clickable enlarged pictures.
Great job!
Chicky Chicky Babys last blog post..Okay, so maybe, just maybe, I woke up on the wrong side of the bed today
Metal would be good. We just don’t trust the plastic, ya know? especially with a natural pulling breed like we have.
I LOVE this! The site is great and easy to use. The collars are fabulous! I would love to win one! I like the pictures are great and I love the designs. I have a Springer Spaniel, Border Collie, and Rat Terrier at home. The Border Collie tears through collars like crazy!
Well, if you win I’ll give you a free upgrade to a metal snap buckle..
Hey Megan, yeah Border Collies are tough dogs! Lots and lots and lots of energy there.. that’s why I like my Bullmastiffs.. BIG ruckus.. then nap.. and nap .. and nap..
I think your sight looks great! Your dog is pretty massive! LOL! I think the collars look very well made and the variety of colors/patterns are fun! Might just have to spoil our husky with a new custom designed collar!
Good luck with your business!
Lois
It looks nice, very clean sort of look. I don’t like when you click to view a bigger picture, that it’s not really bigger, it’s just the same size on a page of it’s own.
I am, err, was also a web designer for about 10 years. As my Mama would say, “you done good”
I am sure by now you have heard from other people about not having an empty category. Does Zen cart allow you to use multiple categories for the same product? If so, that solves the problem. You never know if someone is looking for something and they can’t figure out what category would be the best one to find it in anyhow.
Designwise, I really like it! It is clean and the colors are good. The only thing I suggest is maybe use a background color on the navigation on the left. That will separate it visually from the main text and products on the right. Let me know if you don’t know what I am talking about.
As far as the prize goes, yes, I’ll be glad to take it but I would be putting it on my cat! “Dogs drool and cats rules!” Sorry - I “walk” 2 cats around the yard and they have tieouts and leashes and everything. They go out 3 times a day at regular times and love it. They even “knock” on the door with their paws when they are ready to come in. And, they give the “evil eye” to any dog who comes around and calls them a cat! So, my kitties need new collars is what I am saying with this long drawn out story.
Good luck with your new shop and PICK ME!

I love your dog! and your site.
and my grand dog needs to win.
So clever of you.
Robyn Lynn, thanks for your imput on the image size… I’m going to guess that you were viewing the tags? Unfortunately, I don’t have a bigger image since they were supplied by the maker… I’ll have to see if I can figure out a way to disable that feature in that catagory…
now if the collar images aren’t bigger, then I have a problem… They should open up to about 750 px wide….
Thanks for swinging by!
Thanks Wendy! I had contemplated adding a background color on the navigation sidebar… but now I’m thinking about maybe just a vertical line to separate the two.. I’m a big fan of “white”….
Thanks for the imput.. (and yeah, the empty catagories… I have to fix that too…)
I love this website and your great tags and collars. Just waiting until the grand opening! I have a field bred English Springer and three cats. It’s anybody’s guess who is in charge around here! Tain’t me!!
Keep up the good work.
Polly
Jennifer,
I decided to write about my “dog” cats on my blog. Take a look and you can see them on their leashes outside.

The site looks good. Can’t wait for it to be all the up and running. I got 3 dogs that need collars.
I can’t wait to see what you list in the Shop, tried to click on it and see that you are still working on it. Can’t wait!
Glad to hear that you like working with big dogs. Your collars look beautiful. I especially like the chili pepper one.
the collars look great. liked the blue starry one very much.
I checked out your shop and WOW! So cool.I loved all of the goodies, expecially the collars. The hearts are cute too.My little boy(Poagie)would have to have something for a man dog.He thinks he is a man.He is 18 pounds of love.
I love the site’s layout. I also love your great selection of merchandise. The Doggie Bling is my favorite.
Great site–and love the collar material– especially the holiday-themed ones and the lovely lavendar (not easy to find in a collar–especially a special print). My Corgi-Golden mix (Bodie) and his Big Brother Golden (Torin) would look so handsome in your collars ! We look forward to your online store– Thanks !

I really like the site! And your collars, of course!
I especially like the “new products” section, as I expect I’ll be on your site quite often, and it’s great to be able to see what’s new without having to go through every other sample. My little brown dog wants a new collar! (Well, okay, he actually hates wearing a collar, but he has no choice and so makes do.)
I just started following you on twitter (jacksoncj1) and love your stuff. I bet my 9-yr old Maltese, “The Captain,” would love one of those sporty collars!

Like the site , I’m not very computer literate but was able to navigate ok. I have several dogs, most are rescued dogs, only 2 I actually sought for, but I love them all. I’ll be looking to buy a collar for my new puppy ( she’s going to be big). Have you thought about harnesses? They work better for my tiny dogs, and leashes? thanks good job
Well, I see some pretty cool things here. I better start putting together a holiday list!
Your collars are adorable! I love the fabrics! My dachshund Arieah is going to look so cute when I buy her new collar later this month!
