Well the four of us are off for the weekend. WE are attending “Hearts, Hands and Hounds: Helping the Brain to Heal the Body” by our friend Dr. SueAnn Lesser.
Should be fun. Dr. Lesser (yes, I call he SueAnn when I see her.. but in “public” she’s Dr. Lesser.. she earned that title darnit! where was I? Oh right) Dr. Lesser’s girls (dobermans) are always looking spiffy, but if I can dress them up, I totally will!
I’m suprising them with these (please forgive the cruddy pics. One of my lighbulbs blew in my natural light lamps)

I was taking a look at my referral sources for this site and probably 50% of the key words people used to find my site were things relating to “how to sew a dog collar”.
It’s really not that hard, actually. Once you get the logistics down. I figured it out myself by taking apart one of my existing collars and then .. well putting it back together again!
But! If you all REALLY want to know how to sew a dog collar, I’m happy to share. It’s certainly not a proprietary secret. I actually thought of making up some dog collar kits, including webbing and hardware with a little instruction book.
You can buy them other places but you can’t get webbing in the kit (that I’ve seen anyway) so I thought I’d include some extra.. you know.. for mistakes and such.
What do you all think?

Boy do I love these!

Once again, Lora has requested a fabulous design for her St. Bernards. I’ve got one more to make for Apollo, that is not pumpkins and then I can ship them off. The Pumpkin Festival is coming up and the Boys will be in the Pet Parade!

I started making my own labels with my inkjet printer and some of that nifty fabric that you can print on. It’s machine washable!
What do you think?

Less than a week after loosing my sweet baby boy, I guess I’m ready to get back to work. It’s been an interesting few days…
I’ve gone from from flat out sobbing for hours to complete and total apathy..
from not wanting to eat a thing to wanting to shove every fat laden sugar riddled gob of food into my mouth.
I’ve railed at the Gods for taking my boy… I’ve thanked the Gods for giving me 6 and 1/2 wonderful years.
I’m finding balance again.
I guess I’m ready.

it has a whole new meaning.. as does normalcy.
But we are getting there.. I should be able to open the shop by the end of the week. The sooner we get back into the flow of things, no matter how alien they now feel, the better.
I can sew… I managed to make a few collars yesterday and felt better for it… definately better than therapy.
Thank you, everyone for your kind words. It means more than you know.

At 7:30 AM today when I should have been getting ready for work by ironing my shirt, I was ironing fabric.. then cutting fabric.. then cutting interfacing… well heck..
in for a penny, in for a pound, right?
So I cut my wonderunder (fusible stuff..).. and then..
well.. I made the fabric strips for Saint Lover’s collars.
They are 1/2 done!

oh wow! I can’t WAIT to make collars out of this!
I think I can get as small as 1 1/2 inch wide on this… This is going to look so awesome on Lora’s St.Bernards Brutus and Rufus!
